Which varies slightly from test to test. But generally is above 130. Which means that their intelligence ability would be 13. '

I think you're referring to Stanford-Binet tests, but which D&D book says that 130 IQ on Stanford-Binet corresponds to 13 Int?

This issue opens several cans of worms, and I fear I'll have to dig up a lot of statistics to justify my stance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549940298295825812.post-72565965440293227622011-08-17T03:57:45.699-06:002011-08-17T03:57:45.699-06:00You have a very interesting argument, but I profou...You have a very interesting argument, but I profoundly disagree.

Intelligence is hard to measure, even with IQ tests. Charisma and Wisdom are even harder to measure.

Strength is about the only attribute that is easy to measure. D&D strength is so abstract that it simply does not model real human muscles.

However, we can easily point to real human athletes and point out human maximum levels of strength. Olympic athletes push the limits of strength, but there are a huge number of strong humans who are not Olympians, but who can lift nearly Olympian weights.

There are many, many blacksmiths in the world. A blacksmith might very well think nothing of lifting 470 pounds over his head. In AD&D terms, that's somewhere around 18/00 Strength.

So, there's too many issues here for me to sum this up concisely, but I'll have to get my thoughts together and rewrite this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549940298295825812.post-50350187946451093002011-08-16T02:31:54.060-06:002011-08-16T02:31:54.060-06:00Pretty nice! :D Alex, awesome first comment, laugh...Pretty nice! :D Alex, awesome first comment, laughed a bit right here. Or another great quote, "Let the dice roll as they may..."

I personally think it is a challenge to play whatever I roll. To me it's more of a challenge to play a character with random 3d6 stats than to play the exact character that I think of in my head and then assign or arrange. I've played several games that use just about every method that you describe but I always come back to 3d6 straight down.Greylondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09896610456503648984noreply@blogger.com
