I posted on it from material I had collected for the ezine (now blogzine...temporarily :) 1st issue:

http://www.classicrealmsofadventure.com/2011/11/fourthcore-welcome-to-slaughterhouse.html

I'm glad you are digging that. There is just something Old School Run-The-Gauntlet-about it.

And if you haven't had a chance to check the backlog check this for ideas on the 'Weird' side (Clark Aston Smith in this case):

http://www.classicrealmsofadventure.com/2011/12/zothique-d20-system-game-guide.html

That is a great compact little package for ideas.

And for a plug to Dangerous Brian's 'Old School Survival Guides' (Hi Brian!) these are awesome:

http://www.classicrealmsofadventure.com/2011/12/old-school-survival-guides-dont-leave.html

Glad to hear from you man. I was hoping it was all good. A lot of blogs have went dark lately with no explanation.

Have a great holiday and game hard!xhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17814063435676111475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549940298295825812.post-1763918392787023202011-12-22T12:26:15.792-07:002011-12-22T12:26:15.792-07:00Hell's yeah, man! That's a great example of Pathfinder material that is in the same idiom as a lot of the Fourthcore ideals, so much so that it got converted to 4E/Fourthcore! Just goes to show, if you've got a compelling dungeon/adventure, it doesn't make too much difference what ruleset you go by.Rosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08107736691449509380noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549940298295825812.post-21283151190648295312011-12-22T12:05:35.529-07:002011-12-22T12:05:35.529-07:00Hey thanks guys. You guys are the best!

--chrisSizzaxehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13715649618278080709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549940298295825812.post-900740683771597532011-12-22T11:52:32.599-07:002011-12-22T11:52:32.599-07:00Hey Chris, thanks for the mention in your blog pos...Hey Chris, thanks for the mention in your blog post!

I think you hit the nail on the head--there is a certain atmosphere I enjoy to play in my own games which include player challenges, a good deal of role-playing atmosphere ("Temple of Elemental Evil" being the grand-daddy of modules to get this right for me) and things must get deadlier as they get harder.

I'm going to be writing a big post over the winter break to talk about why I'm going to be writing for DCC RPG in the future, but the gist of it is: the rules get out of my way. I still very much enjoy playing 4E, but I'm finding I enjoy _writing_ DCC much more to my liking, and given the intense amount of hours it takes to bring something to market, it better be something you enjoy doing (and hopefully the players enjoy playing.)

Thanks again!
-Stephen Newton-
www.thickskulladventures.comStephen Newtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00550904853483525152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-549940298295825812.post-13584698937406678972011-12-22T10:37:46.416-07:002011-12-22T10:37:46.416-07:00First off, glad to hear from you! I am all for focusing energies on actual gaming rather than all this "meta" blogging stuff! Hey man, as for your Pathfinder adventures, I say happy gaming and more power to you! The more gaming the better, and to hell with anyone who argues against what you consider to be "old school" or "new school" or whatever. It's all in the mind, all in the preference, all in the attitude, all in the style! Enjoyment and comfort are what matter! If you are doing Pathfinder in what you consider an old school manner (maybe encouraging less dice rolls and more roleplaying, for instance), that's just as valid as playing B/X by the book, no house rules! Game on my friend, GAME ON! And thanks for the new word: fourthcore! Hey, you can do 4E D&D in the old school fashion as well. Happy gaming!Anthony Simeonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04312134763577949405noreply@blogger.com
